Father's Day 2011

We celebrated Father's Day on Wednesday this year. Brian is working all weekend so we picked a day that we did not have too much going on. We started out our day with a yummy breakfast together (minus Samuel, he is a late sleeper.) After breakfast, we opened up presents. We got Brian clothes, exciting I know. He only gets clothes about twice a year. Winter clothes for his birthday and Summer clothes for Father's day. Lucas and Samuel also made a card for their Daddy. I drew a fire truck with Daddy inside and they colored it. It was so sweet. Lucas was pretty proud to show it to Daddy.
Yummy Lemonade Cake that I made for after lunch.
That morning we took out some water colors for the first time. Lucas loved them! He painted for about an hour. That is a long time for a two-year old boy to focus. He had so much fun. After lunch we had a yummy lemonade cake and then we went to my mom's house to have some outdoor water fun. We took out the slip-n-slide and the pool. Daddy and Lucas played outside all afternoon.
We had plans to go get some steak somewhere (because I cannot cook a good steak.) But, we had a last minute appointment to see a house so we had to get dinner in a rush. Mexican is the only way to go when it comes to Lucas. He loves quesadillas and bean burritos. So we got some gourmet Taco Bueno and then went to see the house.
Last night we went to Texas Roadhouse to make up the steak dinner for Brian. We had a great time. Lucas danced to the music and Samuel looked all around at all of the lights. That was the first time we have ventured out to a restaurant with both kids since Samuel was a newborn.
This weekend we will be celebrating Father's day for the Pawpaws. Both of our dad's are hardworking, honest men. Brian has learned so much from his dad. He has learned commitment, courage, strength, and patience. My dad taught me all of those things too. He showed me by example of what to look for in a husband. When it comes to my husband, I'm pretty sure that I got one of the "good ones."
Thanks to all of the Dad's in our lives. We love you!
