Look who didn't want to miss Christmas!

Sunday December 23rd at 3:15am Joseph Thomas decided to come into this world.  He arrived fast and furious.  He was 8lbs, 10oz which was a total shocker to me and he was 21 inches long.  His full head of dark hair also shocked the family.

He is already such a blessing.  The big boys have been great with all of the transitions.  Thank you to all of our family that have already helped us so much.  Joseph's arrival was wonderful and stress free because of all of you.

A Season of Preparation and Waiting

We are waiting and preparing for Christmas.  We are waiting and preparing for family.  We are waiting and preparing for a baby boy.

Not much has been going on lately.  I've just been trying to maintain the house for visitors and enjoy the boys and our time together.

Brotherly love in mom and dad's bed.  They played together there for so long that morning.

Painting...we have been doing lots of arts and crafts lately.  As long as it is messy, they love it.

Hot chocolate on the porch.

Samuel refused to take off his shoes during his nap.  This is how he looked most of the day.

38 weeks

Pizza and arcade games at Double Daves.  The boys had a blast!

A Sight for Sore Eyes

Lucas had been showing signs that he was having vision problems.  He would squint, cover one eye, and rub his eyes.  He eventually started telling me that his eyes were hurting.  Then I noticed that one eye was starting to look droopy compared to the other.

I made him an appointment with the eye doctor.  I didn't know how it would go.  He did awful at the dentist not too long ago so I didn't have high hopes for the eye doctor.  But, I was pleasantly surprised by how big and helpful he was.  He followed all of the instructions, and he even allowed them to dilate his pupils (which I have heard is very uncomfortable.)

I was not surprised to learn that he did indeed have a vision problem.  But, I was surprised by how bad it was.  I don't know numbers, but I know that his lenses are thick and that the doctor said that it was a very strong prescription for a three year old.

We ordered him his glasses and went to pick them up a week later.  They warned me that he might put up a fight because the prescription was so strong.  They said that it might take him a while to get used to them.  But, as usually, my big boy took everything so well.  He has been wearing them every day without fail.  He even reminds me in the morning to put them on.  He is as gentle as a three year old boy can be with them too.

On the way to school last week we had this conversation.

Lucas: Momma, you have glasses like me!
Me: Yep, your right!
Lucas: So, you have glasses and I have glasses.  My eyes are broken that is why I have glasses.  They make me see better.
Me:  That's right buddy.  I bet you are so happy that you can see now!

Long pause...listening to music...talking about trains...

Lucas:  Thank you Momma.
Me: For what?
Lucas:  For fixing me...for fixing my eyes.
Me:  Sniff, sniff, sniff.  Your welcome!  Sniff, sniff, sniff.

I could eat him up!

Thanksgiving Break in Tulsa

The weekend after Thanksgiving we headed up to Tulsa for our last trip without baby Joseph.  It started with a trip to our favorite Tulsa restaurant, Kilkinney's.  Mmmm such good food.  We had a great time with our family and without the children.  Thanks to Lindsey and Melissa for watching the boys for us so we could enjoy a child-free meal.

After OSU sadly lost we made ourselves feel better with some yummy ice cream.  Yep, that we dinner for us.  I cannot complain at all.

Later that night Lucas and Brian tested some of his merchandise that he is selling for durability.  We now know that these bags hold at least a 40 lb child who is having so much fun.

After church on Sunday we celebrated Brian's birthday.  We put a few more than 28 candles on the cake because some little girls wanted to add pink candles to the cake.  How many people does it take to light these candles?  Apparently when you don't have a plan it takes at least three.

I love Abigail and Lucas' faces in this picture.  They love candles and cake.

We had a great weekend.  It is so strange that that was our last trip before the baby arrives.  Thanks for a great visit everyone!

Nearing the end

Here we are once again.  Our third little baby is about to arrive.  This is baby number 3 within four years.  Whew!  It has been crazy.

This has by far been the hardest pregnancy that I have had.  I think that I can pinpoint the difficulties to two of the sweetest little boys I know.  They have kept this momma moving.  The problem is that moving hurts.  I'm tired...really tired.  This little baby is also a mover and a shaker.  He moves constantly.  I have never had a baby move so much even when I am up and moving.  When I am walking around the grocery store he is kicking and squirming.  Don't worry little guy!  I haven't forgotten you are there ; )

I am going in for my 37 week appointment tomorrow.

The hormones are in full swing...ask the family.  I am also in extreme nesting mode.  I seem to be less worried about being prepared for little Joseph and more concerned about having everything ready for the big boys and those family members taking care of them.  I have no hospital bag, no baby laundry cleaned, and have read no birthing literature as of yet.  Samuel has me a little stressed because of his attachment to me.  Logically I know that God will take care of everything.  Illogically, I will never be prepared enough.  So, each day I am trying to cross something off my list while keeping a list for my family.

I could definitely use some prayers as we finish this last stretch.  This is my first time to bring a baby home without my momma and sisters close by.  This is also the first time that I have to actually get dressed and leave the house afterwards (for MDO.)  Something else that is different is that Brian has less freedom at work, making it harder to have time off when needed.  These will all be new experiences that I am a little scared to embrace.  One of the awesome things about this time around is that Lucas is excited about being a big brother.  Samuel doesn't have a clue.  But, at least he is talking and communicating so well (which is completely different than Lucas was when we had Sam.)

Nearing the end is bringing out every kind of emotion.  I am so so excited to meet our little angel.  I cannot wait to hold him in my arms and kiss him.  I cannot wait to see who he looks like.  Thanks for the prayers during this time.  I'll keep you posted!

Thanksgiving 2012

This year we spent Thanksgiving in Norman with Brian's parents.  Joanne and I split up the meal responsibilities.  That made it stress free.  I forgot to take a picture of all of the yummy food...but believe me, it was good.

After lunch we played doctor.  Brian was in bad shape and needed a full body cast.

Doctor Lucas glanced at him in between playing on the ipad to make sure that he was okay.

Samuel decided that Daddy was all better and was in charge of removing the cast.

Somewhere along the line Coco needed a cast too.  She just sat there and let them wrap her up.

Then our annual Gingerbread House event started.  This year Mamaw bought a train.  The boys loved it.  Samuel was in charge of tasting everything to make sure it was edible.

The end product.  I think that they weigh ten pounds each.

Mamaw and Pawpaw

It was a really fun, relaxing day.

Halloween 2012

Our Halloween history has not been that successful.  This year it was great (minus the fact that there was a little costume meltdown...see below.)

Samuel refused to wear Nemo...it was a full meltdown.  He was laying on the floor crying.  After a solid five minutes of trying to make him happy we gave in and took off Nemo.  So, of course Lucas wanted to wear Nemo instead of his cowboy costume.

What we ended up with was a tight Nemo costume and a saggy cowboy costume.  Sigh, so much for trying.

Mamaw and Pawpaw let us trick-or-treat in their neighborhood.

Lucas and I carved a pumpkin too!

Family of 4

We couldn't miss the fall leaves that we are so blessed to have in our front yard without taking family pictures.  Brian's mom came over and played photographer.  Here are some of our last pictures as a family of four.
