Lucas is Four!

It is so hard to believe that Brian and I have a four-year old son this week.  Wasn't he just a baby yesterday?  

I have definitely noticed so many changes in him lately.  Mostly in how he talks.  He sounds so old.  Last night we took him to Teds for dinner.  As soon as we sat down he said this to the waiter.

"It is my birthday.  I am almost four...Um I would like a hot dog please."  

He was very matter of fact and confident about it.  

Everyone had a great time...even Joseph

Lucas got to wear the sombrero while the waiters sang.  He loved it.

After dinner we went to Mamaw and Pawpaw's house to make ice cream sundaes and open presents.

Here are the boys enjoying the new gifts.

Lucas, we love you so much.  You are getting to be such a big boy.  You are enjoying school and are growing so much because of it.  You love Samuel.  You guys do everything together.  You are usually pretty patient with him but you know how to get under his skin.  You speak very kindly.  You are always saying please and thank you.  You are great with Joseph.  You sing and talk to him and you are really gentle with him.  You have decided that when Joseph gets bigger you are going to show him how to jump.  You are always ready to hug and cuddle.  Usually when you cuddle you say, "Mama, you are my best friend."  That just melts my heart.  You love all of your extended family so much.  You call them your friends too.  Daddy definitely has a special place in your heart.  He can fix anything and life is more exciting when he is around.  You cannot wait to grow big like him (after you eat your peas of course.)

You are growing up so fast.  I cannot wait to see how you continue to grow.  I love you Lucas!  Happy Birthday!
